Nintendo News: The Greatest Newspaper Available!
DVD & Panisonic

Well, bad news. Right when you think the N2000 would have a lot of cool action games such as 007 Goldeneye, Nintendo announces that they will make 13 Disney based games. Mabey 007 will pop up and kidnap Mickey? Probably not.

On the other hand, this could be a good thing. Now we wont have to wait long for the first 13 games to come out.

And, Hiroshi Yamauchi said that they have chosen DVD do to copyright protection. "We did not want to use CD-ROM" Yamauchi said. According to Yamauchi, Nintendo will use Panisonic's DVD system. Matsushita played the leading role in creating the encryption code on DVD.

Even though it uses DVD, the encryption disallows it to play on regular DVD players. It is 99% the same as a regular DVD. So much for the people who created the Z64 game copier. Time for them to put on their pocket protectors and push up the glasses, cause they'll have to figure out a new way to make millions....Hmmm....mowing lawns maybe?

NEC

NEC has signed with Art-X to develop the graphics accelerator for the N2000. NEC announced that the graphics chip will carry 8MB to 16MB of on board embedded eDRAM. The PSX2 only has 5Mhz. Art-X must be too lazy. Hey guy's, lay off the chips and beer okay?

IBM's Role

The Dolphin will use IBM's 400 MHz processor. Nintendo announced a multi-year, 1 billion dollar (Where's Bill Gates when you need him?) agreement between IBM. They will use IBM's industry leading 0.18 micro-processor technology. The chip has been dubbed "The Gekko".
